Reviews :

David Yates had got nothing to prove with this one. And, it is solely because this guy has already proved everything that any director may have to with the previous installments of Harry potter movies. The wait for Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part I has been endless, but one watch of this movie, and you are sure to realize that this wait couldn’t have been more fruitful!

The looming high walls of Hogwarts, and the calm, assuring presence of Albus Dumbledore, the man with the crooked nose and the half-moon spectacles, perched on his nose, are no longer around. It’s all vulnerable, the dark clouds hovering over the world. Stakes are high, with both Muggles and Pure Bloods at the receiving end of Dark Lord’s fury.

The security that surrounded Harry at Privet Drive is lifted in this movie, and he is vulnerable more than ever. The boy with the lightning scar has never had it so tough, with Albus Dumbledore gone. Anger, fury and desperation sweep the magical world, as Rita Skeeter fuels up the raging fire that is burning the very existence of Harry, with her gossips and rumors about Albus Dumbledore.

The opening sequence that sees seven Harrys, dangling in air is – breathtaking, to put it in short. You lose the ever-optimistic Mad-Eye Moody and Hedwig, the misty-eyed white owl, Harry’s only companion, apart from Ron and Hermione. The tone is dark, settings sinister, as the trio embark on a mission to find the Horcruxes, and to destroy the one that they have managed to find – at the cost of a life – the most precious life of Albus Dumbledore. Frustration sweeps over as one fights the urge of helping the trio! The cold, sweeping river; the horrifying encounter with Nagini, at Godric\’s Hollow; is a treat to watch.

You would be haunted for ever when you watch Harry standing over his parent’s grave. Tears are something that are assured with these sequences. The haunting score, O Children, made for a scene that would live in my memory for eternity. Harry and Hermione, waltzing to the tune in the wilderness drove home a point – there relationship was as sweet and innocent that a relationship can ever be. Tim Burke leads from the front, yet again, if I talk about the visual effects.

The killing scene of Dobby, the lovely elf, would tug at your heart strings, every time you sleep for some night to come at least. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 has set the stage for the next one, when the epical battle would take place at the most epical place, THE MIGHTY HOGWARTS!
